Fredricks Suspended for Palace

Ryan Fredricks is suspended on Boxing Day.
Who will Pellegrini go for to play against Zaha.
Surely not Zabaletta, he got murdered against Williams of Newcastle.
Ben Johnson would be a better but he picked up another injury with the U23's.
Maybe Reid can step up and in.
Bernardo Rosa has also been performing brilliantly at both full back positions again for the U23's. An outside bet.
This could be more crucial than whoever plays in goal.

It doesn't matter who plays against him. He'll still be diving/falling all over the place looking for fouls, and get them most of the time as refs fall for it.

Could try one of the left backs there, as Zaha is likely to cut inside onto his stronger foot therefore going onto the left footers preferred side too.
Remember Liverpool doing something similar against Barcelona years ago and playing i think Arbeloa at left back against Messi and it largely worked some how.

I was at Villa park years ago where i think it was Reid's debut and he played at right back, Mark Albrighton absolutely tore him apart down the wing and we lost 3-0 if i remember right.

If Ben Johnson is injured I’d probably use Cresswell to defend him cutting in.
I’d have Antonio play from the right side up top to occupy their full back so he can’t push up and work with Zaha.
Need to isolate Zaha
Or ideally get our team coach to run him over in the car park

Seeing as Zabaleta is our back up right back, then it should be him.
If the manager think he's not up to it, we need to be shipping him out in January.

the only way you keep zaha quiet is by playing on the front foot and attacking them and defending from the front. wurzle, after his win, will be tempted to revert back to the one up front and that will play straight in to their hands and especially if antonio's the lone striker

Im expecting Zaba
Would even take Sanchez there or Diop and play Balbuena at the back with Oggy
Thinking about it id go with Diop.....got the pace to deal with too shit for engerlaaand

Agree with Mike the Hammer, Zaha will spend half the game diving and falling over, how he manages to go shopping if every time someone bumps into him he falls over.

I distinctly remember Zabaleta doing an absolutely superb job on Zaha 2 or 3 years ago so I would definitely play him - there's life in the old dog yet and we could do with the experience. Also, Zaha will remember that night and won't be looking forward to being up against Zab again.
